Lamborghini Squadra Corse announces the 2023 Young Driver Programs

15 June 2023

45 drivers will be assessed across the season before end-of-year shootout at Vallelunga in November

Lamborghini Squadra Corse, the racing division of Automobili Lamborghini, has unveiled the latest intake of drivers into its Young Driver Programs for the 2023 season.

The Super Trofeo Junior Drivers Program is dedicated to drivers aged 25 or under and who compete in one of the three regional Lamborghini Super Trofeo championships, while the GT3 Junior Drivers Program is reserved for those drivers competing at the wheel of a Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 across the globe.

A total of 26 Super Trofeo Junior Drivers and 19 GT3 Juniors have been selected for the season-long assessment program. All 45 drivers will be assessed throughout the season, with specific evaluations on performance (single lap pace as well as average speed), consistency over the course of a weekend, experience, professionalism, technical feedback and attitude both at and away from the circuit.

The most impressive drivers over the season will then be selected by Program Supervisor Raffaele Giammaria, to take part in an end-of-year shootout at Vallelunga in Italy, following the conclusion of the 2023 Lamborghini Grand Finals. Both the winner of the Super Trofeo Junior Driver Program and GT3 Junior Driver Program shootouts will go on to receive factory support from Squadra Corse during the 2024 season.

Last year’s GT3 Junior Program winner, Leonardo Pulcini was rewarded for his standout performance in the assessment after winning the International GT Open title alongside Chilean Benja Hites, and subsequently became a Lamborghini Factory Driver. Coming out on top in the Young Driver shootout was Danny Formal, who was selected as a Lamborghini Young Professional Driver alongside Yuki Nemoto and Maximilian Paul.

A key element of the progression for young drivers to climb up the ranks of GT racing, the Super Trofeo Junior Driver Program and GT3 Junior Program offer an array of hands-on training such as media management and on-track instruction, providing the perfect package for up-and-coming talents. The Programs also teach the drivers how to increase their technical expertise while maintaining physical preparation in the state-of-the-art gym facilities at Lamborghini’s Sant’Agata Bolognese headquarters.
